Gone but not forgotten, and not close to fading away!

I will always know you as "Billy", that is what your Mother, my Grandmother always called you. You remain eternally young in my mind; an aspiring rock star, gentle horseman, and awesome diver. Did I mention a great poet? I grew up in the same house as you, hopefully you were there in spirit to watch me grow, and meet your Father, my Grandfather, when he took his final breath. I used to sneak into my Grandmothers closet and read the letters you had sent to her from overseas. I was only about ten then, but something drew me to the words that were contained on the white pages inside the white envelope with red, white, and blue stripes. Remember all of the old movies you were in riding your palomino? You are a brave person for living the life you did, I thank you for my freedom and the right to live my life the way I want. Although we have never met in the physical body, I know you from pictures, movies, and poetry. And also from all of the funny stories my mom told me about the two of you from when you were in high school. I know that you were there to meet my Grandma when she passed, she talked of you being in the room. At that time I didn't know about the spirit world and the process of death. After looking into it, and being looked at like I am crazy, I believe. I pray that you will watch over me with Grandma and Grandpa, watch me grow and succeed, and I pray that I will make you all proud! Love you all, Tracey

Thank you for your sacrifice.

Brave soldier,
I am a student at Gridley High School in Gridley, Illinois, and this posting is part of the Gridley High School Posting Project. I would like to recognize that your sacrifice for this country has truly been a great one, and I want you to know that you have not been forgotten. As your name lives on, etched upon this monument, so will your loyalty, honor, and courage. Your act of bravery in the service of your country will never cease to inspire young Americans like myself.
