My Best Friend
I new Michael when he was in guns. Be. cause he was small they took the gun (m-60) away gave him a rifle and assigned him to 2nd squad. I was the gunner for the 3.5 rocket squad. Mike and I spent a lot of time together. At CALU we stood lines together (50%) for over a month, plus. On May 30th we were together at a place called Washout N of Cam Lo. My rocket team was assigned to another squad for the 31st. We were on point. When we stooped 2nd squad took point. As mike passed me I told him to be careful and we would set in together tonight. That was the last time I saw him. I carried one of the wounded to a chopper and he told me Mike was killed. I broke down and cried. My squad leader asked me what was wrong. I told him about Mike and said that's what you get for having friends. God bless you Michael!!!

Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Michael Allen MacHie, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Memorial Day Remembrance - 2013
I have thought of you often as the years have past. I remember your sense of humor, and the laughter you brought to home room. I am thankful for your sacrifice, and wonder what and where you would be today, 45 years later. Dave L, Bobby W, and I followed you into the Corps. Semper Fi Mike!

Honoring Allen Machie
I chose your name from the CT map painted in our school which lists the soldiers from our state that lost their lives in Vietnam. As part of the Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School posting project, I would like to honor the sacrifice you made for my country. Thank for fighting even though you were ridiculed. We call it a war for a reason. So many deaths, it’s a shame any people had to die. Thank you for your service.
