Thank You
Dear ,Sp4 Frank Lyon Thank you for your service as a Radio Operator. I researched you on the 53rd anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Memorial Day is this weekend, but like none other. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ground Casualty
On September 12, 1967, a convoy of vehicles from 2nd Battalion, 40th Regiment of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) was traveling south on Highway QL-1, five miles south of Tam Quan in Binh Dinh Province, RVN, when it was attacked by a company-strength Viet Cong force. Helicopter gunships were dispatched to assist the besieged ARVN column. During the engagement, an ARVN advisor reported that an American jeep from the 137th Engineer Company was traveling north on QL-1 when it entered the battle zone and was hit by enemy fire. Two Americans, SP4 Frank E. Lyon and PFC Jerry B. Menane, were killed, and a third was wounded. A medivac was called, and the wounded man was taken to the 15th Medical Battalion. An element of the 19th Engineer Battalion was sent to the scene to recover the two bodies and jeep. Menane was posthumously promoted to Corporal. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
