THE WALL OF FACES

My husband Jim and Paul, along with 4 other helicopter pilots, were housemates while in flight school at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah. While in flight school, Jim and I were married. Lukins and all the other guys, in their dress blues, attended our wedding. When guests started arriving to the church all at once and overwhelmed the ushers, they all jumped in to escort our guests to their seats! These guys were like family! Paul was always so kind and helpful. Sadly, only 4 of the 6 made it home from Vietnam. Thank you, Paul, for your sacrifice. Our hearts are still broken at your loss.

Dear Captain Paul Lukins, Thank you for your service as an Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander - Helicopter Pilot. Your 51st anniversary is in 3 days, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is Mother’s Day, but like none other. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Dear Captain Paul Roger Lukins, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
