He Was Our Head Coach 1966 Bad Tolz

Joe was my coach in 9th grade -The Bad Tolz Trojans 1966 season. Like my dad, he was 10th Special Forces Group. Joe was a No BS kind of guy, like most SF men. He pushed me hard and was brutally frank but I would have walked on fire for him. We were the smallest post in the league by numbers but finished 2nd in the South Bavarian District and I was selected to the South Bavarian All Star Team. Our quarterback was Marty Beck (no relationship). Like Joe, Marty's dad, Lt. Col. Martin Beck was killed in a helicopter crash in Viet Nam. It's hard to think of him as only 23 when he died. He was short but had the demeanor of a Pitt-Bull. He is one of those people that you don't forget. RIP Coach

Jr. High (Davis) and Sr. High (York Suburban) Class Mate

I remember Joe well especially junior high English class when the teacher threw a book at Joe for being too silly. Also as a football team member at York Suburban. He was a good guy. Thank you Joe for your service to your country.
