My Cousin, M Hero, My Fellow Veteran
My cousin and fellow veteran, U.S. Army PFC Frederick M. Lowe, Jr., made the ultimate sacrifice for his nation in Binh Doung on October 21, 1967 when he was killed-in-action during the Vietnam War. He was laid to rest in our North Carolina hometown at the Wilmington National Cemetery with full military honors. His name is on "The Wall" at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., a Warrior and Hero in the company of other Warriors and Heroes.
While others know him for his service, I remember Fred Jr., and his sister, Angela, as the ones who made sure my brother and I got back and forth to school safely and looked out for us as kids. He grew into a young man who, as a soldier in a foreign land, continued to do what he had always done - protect and serve.
On Memorial Day, I ask that PFC Lowe and other Warriors and Heroes be Remembered and Honored on THEIR DAY.

honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You died at 18 years of age. I am 74 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.
