Peter died with 7 others that night in 1968. 6 were in his unit, MTT-2. They were Rafiel Avila, David C Crane, William C Cue, Michael A Griggs and Charles Millner plus 2 reinforcments Larry a Jamerson and Billy J Taylor.

In honor of your dedication and sacrifice to our Country, our Corps, and our CAP unit, on 8 August 2024 the CAP Unit Veterans Association will have a brick engraved with your name installed along the walkway of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Quantico, Virginia, at the Dedication of the Combined Action Platoon Monument.

Dear PFC Peter Lovan, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. The 45th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon just passed, and it is still sad. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
