Thank You

Dear SFC Manuel Lopez Thank you for your service as a Special Forces Qualified Indirect Fire Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. The 45th anniversary of the Fall of Saigon just passed, and it is still sad. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

A son's never ending love

Dad, I just turned 12 years old at the time and in such a short period of time the impact you had on my life is far greater than one could ever imagine. I can only hope I’ve lived up to your expectations. I’ve met several of your brothers-in-arms that were with you on that heartbreaking June day in 1968. They too were affected by your death and they confirmed to me what I already knew. You were a man of honor, duty and country, but first and foremost you loved God and you were a devoted family man. Love your son Steven Wayne Lopez, MSgt (Ret), USAF

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SFC Manuel Torres Lopez, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
