THE WALL OF FACES

Jimmy Long is my cousin and always will be, I lived on Franklin Street and Jimmy on Pearl Street, Somerville MA, and we attended classes together from 1st to 6th grades. We lost contact along the way but both served in the military. I didn't find out until the 1970 or 1980s that you were KIA in Vietnam, I am so sorry Jimmy. Since the Vietnam Wall was built I have visited The Wall in Washington DC and have made many visits to the traveling Vietnam Wall. I have always found you on the wall Section 41W Line 30 and finally made a Rubbing at CPL James T Long, my cousin and a American Hero. I hope to meet you again with all our relatives who served America from WWII to present. Thank you for your service as well Jim.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Dear Cpl James Long, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is another spring, but like none other. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Jimmy, on this Memorial Day all of us from Second Platoon are thinking about how much we miss you. We have held your memory in our hearts for 48 years and it will be with our loved ones in the stories we told long after we have joined you.
