Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your friend George Torres is moving and harkens back to the carefree days of our youth. Sadly, those days ended much too soon for you. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever….

Dear PFC Gabriel Lona, Thank you for your service as a Seaman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is another spring, but like none other. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

It was a rough night for all of us on November 7th,69. We picked up all your remains till about 5:30 the next morning. The two VC got away with their san pan up the river. We thought the LCM was taking on water and one motor was knocked loose so we beached it there at Bien Tre on the bank. The only good thing was that You died instantly. You'll always be in my memories till I see you again! Rest In Peace Lona.

Gabriel Lona will be honored by inscribing his name on a monument at Garfield High School East L.A. May 21, 2016 930am to 1130am
