Thinking of you BROTHER.

Dan, I think fondly when we were in OCS during a field problem and it went "admin" for a short time. They brought in beer for us and I smile as I recall how excited you became and how you almost cried when you said "I love beer!" I will always remember you and our other classmates who gave their lives in that distant land and who will forever be "20 something." RIP my BROTHER.

Thank You

Dear Lt Daniel Lloyd, Thank you for your service as an Infantry Unit Commander. Today is your 75th birthday, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is another spring, but like none other. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

sadness and giuilt

dan and i went through basic. at and infantry ocs, the4 latter at fort benning. i remember him well. i especially remember a conversation we had one evening in ocs. as with all of us, dan had reached the bottom of his emotional well. we discussed his options: quitting or hanging on until things got better. quitting meant likely being posted to the old guard in washington dc or being posted to germany. in the end dan decided to stick it out. the guilt i carry for that conversation has remained with me. i wish i had persuaded dan to quit. but we were surrounded by "what if's". a good, gentle man, lost
