My friend
Orland and I went to school and bowled together at the T&O. Didn't know he was on the US Gordon until we landed. 54 years later and I still think of you. Will never forget August 19, 1965. Always in my prayers.

Final Mission of PFC Orland O. Bearwald
PFC Orland O. Bearwald was an Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist serving with A Company, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. On August 19, 1965, PFC Bearwald was driving a military vehicle in Vietnam which was hit by hostile forces sniper fire. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and suffered lacerations of the intestines, liver, and pancreas. He was medically evacuated to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines for treatment where he died September 8, 1965.
