LT Ligons was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 30th Artillery. He was serving as a Forward Observer with 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division when the CH47A Chinook helicopter that he was in crashed during a troop lift in Binh Dinh Province.

I recall Lt. Ligons and respected him as a tough OCS Tac officer during early 1967. He was an upstanding individual.
