Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Dennis Ray Lehman, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

I found Bill
Dennis: This past month, I found Bill Kennedy's grave and his mother, who is still living. We had a wonderful visit. All these years, I had thought he died alone in that truck on that convoy. She told me you were with him, when he died. She showed me pictures of you and your family. She also had pictures of the dedication of the buildings at Fort Eustis in 1987 to the two of you. I was so glad they did that. I saw pictures of your son, who was born after you died.
I do not know why I felt better knowing Bill did not die alone. Why should it make me feel better, knowing someone else died with him? I don't understand that, but I know it did. You went together. Somehow that is comforting.
I wish you Godspeed, Dennis.
Jane
