Still Remembered and Always
There is no one from Henry’s immediate family to remember him due to he had no children from his marriage. His sister never had children. His parents are now gone. As his cousin I have inherited his portrait which in a special place in my home. I have visited his grave and the Memorial. I have impressed on my daughter to always remember 2nd Lt. Ledford.
I am greatful for all the posts in his rememberance. I was about three when he made his ultimate sacrifice.

Remembering You Henry A. Ledford
Oh how I remember you Henry. I am so sad to say I never got to tell you good bye. I am just reading this obit today Mar. 27, 2015. Oh how I have thought of you and just was speaking of you this very week. I had no idea you were gone to see our Father in heaven. I had tried throughout last 40 years to contact you in Alexadria but could not remember your Dad or Mom's name so could not look them up and could not find you. No wonder my darling Henry. We had met in church camp when you had just finished high school and I was not out as yet. You and I just made friends during that time and actually you kissed me for the first time you had kissed a girl in your life. I went to homecoming with you at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. Maybe still (somewhere) have many letters we exchanged. Your family moved to Alexandria and we somehow through my own fault not yours drifted apart. I am sorry for this. But am so glad you found a lovely woman who I am sure you loved and were loved by. Had no idea about your going into Marines and so did my husband in 1961. Made it through the Vietnam war and was robbed and beaten to death in 1979 on busy Peachtree St.Atlanta, Ga. I am so very sorry you had to be taken away from your wife and family and now my memory as was will remain just a memory. You were an amazing young man Henry and I will cherish my memory of you for the rest of my life. God bless your remaing family.
