In honor of your birthday I wanted to tell you, thank you for your service and sacrifice. I am a sixth grader and my class learned about the Vietnam War today. I am so grateful for everything you did.

My late husband, First Sergeant Richard L. Ruff, served with Sandy in Vietnam. We visited the Moving Wall when it came to Monroe, MI in the 1990s. When we found Sandy's name, my husband wept and was quite moved by seeing his fallen comrade's name.
