It was an honor serving and sharing foxholes with you in Vietnam from 1 August to 6 December 1968. I trusted and valued your advice as the platoon sergeant for 1st platoon as you were a straight shooter and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps. You answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice for your country. May you rest in peace.

SSGT Charles Arthur Lauer served with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 26th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 3rd Marine Amphibious Force. He was killed during Operation Meade River near Dien Ban (Coffelt Database).
