A Heroic Cousin
Kenny was my heroic older cousin. Due to the years and miles between our childhoods, I didn’t know him as well as I wish I had. But, I thank all of you who have written a remembrance here. Reading them brought tears to my eyes. The extended family has always been so proud of Kenny and would have loved more years to get to spend with him. Thank you to him and all those who have served our country.

Synopsis:
The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Luther McKindree Lasater, III, Captain (Corps of Engineers), U.S. Army (Reserve), for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam, while serving with the Troop F, 9th Cavalry, 3d Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division. Captain Lasater distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions on 13 February 1972. His extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty, at the cost of his life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
