Though not by blood, you were truly my brother

We were only family for a short time before you gave your life for our country. But in that small amount of time you became such an important part of my life. Your letters (which I still have) meant so much to me. I miss you still.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 Alvin Langford, Thank you for your service as a Medical NCO. Thank you for the lives you saved. I researched you on the 52nd anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. For many of us, we have begun Lent. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

To an Uncle who I never knew

My father/your brother always speaks highly of you and it is unfair that I never got to know you. Rest easy.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Alvin Hugh Langford, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
