For a Good Man
John Timothy Lane was a PFC in the Army, and was killed in SOuth Vietnam on 5/4/68. When he dies he was only 20 years, 2 months, and 8 days old. He died serving our country, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his efforts. Although i have never met John personally, i know he was a great man. I know because he died for everyone in our country, and myself, and I didn’t even know him. May he rest in peace. Thank you John.

It is Sunday Afternoon/58 men
Well, it is Sunday afternoon and I am looking at the list of men who died in Vietnam on this date. In 1968, there were 58 of our men who lost their lives on May 4th.
One of them was PFC John Timothy Lane of Brewster, Washington.
He had been in Vietnam one month and three days, at the time of his death. He was 20 years old.
He was killed in Hua Nghia Province, which was between Saigon and the Parrot's Peak. Rough place.
John served with 4th Battalion, 9th Regiment (Manchu) of the 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning).
That is all I know about him, except that he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.
I hope that some day his family and friends and people who served with him will come to this site and post messages to him.
Until that time, Godspeed John!
May you rest in peace.
