Thank you for your Service!!

I met Richard at LAX AirPort in 1968 as I was going home on leave From Vandenberg AFB. I spent almost 3 hours talking to him about family and Military. He really struggled with leaving his family. I returned from my home in Texas and got off plane in Santa Maria. I picked up paper and saw where he had been killed. Those were tough times but I think of him often. My family and others I meet know about him. He will never be forgotten,He met the challenge,Thank you for your Service “SIR”. God Bless!

Thank You

Dear PFC Richard Landers, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. For many of us, we have begun Lent. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Richard Landers remembered by his fellow soldiers

The black and white military picture of Richard Landers in his work uniform came from the book MY GIFT TO YOU, which includes the stories and pictures of American soldiers who died in Vietnam while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry (the Currahees), 101st Airborne Division. The pictures were allowed for use for the Faces Never Forgotten project by the author and fellow Currahee soldier Jerald "Jerry" Berry.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Richard Ray Landers, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
