honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from Sherry Gunder Payne is especially poignant. As long as you are remembered you will remain with us forever....

Chance meeting

You are not forgotten!
I will never forget, me and my Scout Dog, getting off a chopper, on one of the ridge tops, in the A Shau Valley, and you were the RTO, radio man,and you kept looking at me and finally asked me if I was from Ohio. I said yes....then you asked me if I was from around Dayton....I was thinking how did you know this, then you asked me, if had worked at Frigidaire! When I said yes, you told me that you recognized me from there and told me what you did there, then I remembered you...wow...what a chance meeting you there that was. Well ,I walked point for your group for about a week , with you not far behind me ,and when we set up a perimeter night, we were together.
I found out later from one of guys that was in your unit that you had been killed by a mine, while riding one of those flat bed mule carts!, you were so close to getting out of that Hell Hole !
I think of you often and our chance meeting in the A Shau Valley.
Wayne, may you rest in peace and know that you are not forgotten
