Summer Camp

I met Jim at a Church camp in Lexington, MI. Memories of sneaking out after bed check and raiding the camp kitchen for a midnight snack. Going for a swim in Lake Huron and meeting other kids from the the camp down the road. Having to say good bye when camp was over was so so sad. He was easy to like with a laid back style. Think about him often and it still hurts my heart that he died so young. I have one picture of him that will not download. Will keep it forever.

Jim Was My Friend

My name is Joe Lochte. Jim and I served together in Vietnam. We had just come back from R&R in Tokyo, and then he died. It's been many years now, but I think of him every day. He was a fine man, and I'm proud to have called him my friend.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your boyhood friend Bill Wendt is touching and reflects his admiration and respect for you. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us….

Thank you for all the fond memories.

I went to radio teletype school with James in 1966. Soon after my arrival to Vietnam, our paths crossed again in Xuan Loc along with Ted Desantis. A few months later, I found out Ted was in the Long Bien hospital and upon a visit with Ted I learned that they were both in the same fox hole that took a mortar round and James life. A good friend will always e missed.
