do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Final Mission of 1LT Frederick M. Koss

On July 7, 1972, a U.S. Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-4D Phantom II (#65-0800) from the 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron was returning to Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand when it crashed in an open field three miles from the runway. The jet was flying at night in a rainstorm with possible battle damage when it went down. Both crewmen were killed. They included pilot MAJ Harland M. Davis Jr. and Weapon Systems Officer 1LT Frederick M. Koss. There were no civilian injuries or property damage.
