Fine officer who respected the enlisted men.
I was a young marine in VMFA-212's structures shop when we deployed to DaNang in '72. I got to know Lt Konow as a friendly and likeable young aviator. His Pilot, Capt. Tebault was similar. I liked them both and was deeply saddened when we lost them. I think of them often with great respect and admiration. Mike Inigo- SSgt 1970-79.

OCS Buddy
Mike and I bunked across from each other in our Quonset hut in OCS nearly 50 years ago. His bunkmate was named Kubu and Don Speacht, who left a remembrance here, was nearby I was at The Basic School in 1972 when I learned of his sacrifice. I was shocked. I have visited the Wall to see his name and have often thought of him. We often ran together on platoon runs. I clearly remember him showing me a picture of Wanda with great love and pride.

Across Time...
I met Mike during our Senior PLC summer at Quantico in 1969. We were both in Staff Sergeant Hickey's platoon. I remember Mike's sense of humor and how calm he was with the 'harassment package' of OCS. He was a real rock-solid guy. I have sometimes wondered how he would have grown in later years.
