honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died five days before your 40th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Never Forgotten

This photo was taken on May 1, 1965, three days before we left Okinawa enroute to Vietnam. PFC Kohler was in the middle of this photo taken at a party before our embarkation. Therefore, his picture has been enlarged.

He was in my platoon - D Co. Support Battalion 173rd Airborne Brigade. Kohler was much older than his platoon-mates. He said he was from Switzerland and was in the Swiss Army during WWII. He then supposedly immigrated to the US and joined the Air Force.

He told us his family was killed in an accident so he joined the Army. I feel that after all this time I should help explain what I remember about him.

Thank You

Dear PFC Ludwig Kohler, Thank you for your service as a Ground Radar Repairman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Happy New Year in heaven. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
