My Uncle Eric
I’m Christine’s daughter, and never met my Uncle Eric, however I was always profoundly aware of both his presence and absence in our lives. Every Christmas Day I think of him (his birthday), and wonder what kind of man he would have been, and what kind of life he would have had. I’d like to think he was a kind, gentle soul that would have been a bright light in a sea of darkness. I hope to meet him one day in the hereafter, but if that doesn’t exist, I hope his soul (wherever that may be) is at rest, and knows he was loved by so many, and continues to be.

Eric and I were friends, I had known him since grade school, he lived 2 blocks from my home. One of our last episodes together was to drive his 57 Chevy nomad to Elmore IA to visit a teacher who had impressed him. Eric would have been a good chopper pilot, he always projected a lot of self confidence. Eric and I also went to the Drag races in the twin cities together. I think of him often and regret not having stayed in touch with him when he went into the army ... 2 yr's later I was there myself, 392 days infantry
