Return Meeting

The night before Jimmy was being shipped out, I had the honor and the opportunity to have a beer with him at Timber Lodge. We talked a long time about his being shipped out, and he confided in me that he had a feeling that he was not coming back. I told him that I believed he would and we made a pact to meet there again in 1 year and have another beer together. Unfortunately, we never had that beer because he was right.

Jimmy was a good friend and a fun loving guy. We had a lot of good times together. I remember him as if it was yesterday.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 James Richard Knox, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
