Angel Day

On this your angel day I want you to know that you are a blessing to a countless number of people past, present, and future. And through your selfless service and courageous deeds your efforts have and will have an influence on many generations. And with all the good you did and the ultimate sacrifice you paid you truly are OUR HERO and we thank God that you lived.

FREEDOM
by Father Denis Edward O'Brien, USMC

It is the soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us Freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate

It is the soldier, who serves beneath the Flag,
Who salutes the Flag,

Whose coffin is draped by the Flag,
Who allows the protestor to burn the Flag,

It is the soldier, not the politician,
Who has given his blood, his body, his life,
Who has given us these FREEDOMS!

George Knowlton a great soldier to be remembered.

My name is Andrew Amaral I am a high school senior at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, RI. I am currently taking a class on the Vietnam War. In my class each person was assigned a solider who served and died in the Vietnam War and I had the fortune to receive George Franklin Knowlton as my assigned solider. The assignment is to research and find any information about the person and to present this information to the class during a memorial service in which the name of the fallen solider is placed on a small wall. This wall has the names of all the soldiers who died and are originally from Rhode Island. If there is any information that you can provide to me about the solider George Knowlton you can contact me at [email protected]. This email is current as of 10-14-05 and will be active for the entire year. Also, you can contact my school Bishop Hendricken High School at 2615 Warwick Ave. 02886. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear from you soon.

George Frank Knowlton

Dear Uncle George:

I think about you often. I wonder what you were like. I never got the chance to get close to my Mom's side of the family for personal reasons. But I wonder if it would of been different with you. I am so proud of your sacrifice. But I so miss the chance we would of had to be Uncle and neice! I wonder if you ever met me.
I remember that terrible day we found out we had all lost you like it was yesterday and I'm 46 years old now. When we meet in heaven you will be getting a big hug from me for all the lost hugs we missed.
Until then remember all the visits I made to you here at that peaceful place in Gainesville.

Love,
Winnie
