Thank You

Dear LTJG Fredric Knapp, Thank you for your service as an Unrestricted Line Officer (Pilot) on the USS Oriskany. You are still MIA. Please come home. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is the Epiphany, Merry Christmas and happy New Year in heaven. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Always remembered

In a just world you'd be iin your seventies, retired and a grandfather. I'll never forget our dates - movies and food and lots of laughs, and you wore Old Spice. If your family reads this, please know that your son remains in the thoughts of those who knew him, whether it was for a short time (like me) or longer (like his classmates and friends in the Navy).

Old Blue

Woody, your teammates remember you every time the anthem plays at the Bowl, and whenever Memorial Day rolls around. You were a notable NROTC member of the team who would wear the uniform to the field house once a week. A little older than we were in the Class of 67 you left legacies which we picked up. CAK (CAPT, SC, USNR Ret.)

Thank You

Woody,

My name is Clifford Foreman and I am a 2ndLt. in the US Marine Corps. I am infantry and am a rifle platoon commander currently deployed to East Asia. I too played football at Yale, graduating in 2012. I received the Frederic Woodrow "Woody" Knapp memorial trophy my senior year for cheerful disposition, leadership and selfless devotion to others. As we remember and thank the fallen on this Memorial Day Weekend, I wanted to thank you for your sacrifice and example you set as a Yale Football player and Navy Fighter Pilot. Thank you for protecting the grunts in Vietnam in 1967 and thank you for the inspiration you have been and will always continue to be in my life. I am honored and humbled to have received an award bearing your name and everyday try to lead my Marines as best I can to be worthy of that award. Thank you for your sacrifice and for the example you set for others in life and in death. You are not and never will be forgotten.

Rest Easy Brother,

Cliff
