I was 11 years old when we got the call. It was just before Christmas. Beside the obvious grief I felt, your death left a mark on me, helping to shape who I became. I think about you often, Rest in Peace

Dear Sp4 Ronald Klauing, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is the 9th Day of Christmas, Merry Christmas and happy New Year in heaven. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

You are honored and remembered on the Heartland Youth for Decency Vietnam Memorial. The Vietnam Memorial was built by a group of high school and college students from the La Mesa area called Heartland Youth for Decency back in 1970. The memorial park is dedicated to veterans who were living in Southern California's Heartland area (consisting of the communities of La Mesa, Spring Valley, Jamul, Lemon Grove, El Cajon, Santee, and Lakeside) when they accepted the call to military service, during which service they gave their lives in the Vietnam War.
