honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died just five days after your 19th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

From the Neighborhood

John. I was good friends with your brother Wally, I remember the day we got the news on the block, we were numb.... I just sat in silence with Wally, not knowing what to say. You are a Hero of our block and Levittown. May we never forgot how you served our country. Rest in peace..

Please help

(I wrote the remembrance below). If you were present that day (July 23, 1969) please contact me. I am trying to track down the Corpsman who treated the seven Marines who were wounded that day.

Bad day on Go Noi island.

I was not acquainted with John, but I was present when he was wounded along with six other Marines. Our Corpsman received the Bronze Star attempted to save all of those seven Marines. Sadly, John Kitson and Phillip Hammonds succumbed to their wounds. I will remember that day and the buddies we lost.
