Personal

One of the finest people. He loved his country, his family, and his bride, Carmen. I’m proud to have been his college roommate.

Dan, The Best of the Best! (From Gene Shurtz)

Dan/"Snuffy"/Brother... As I reflect, this Veterans Day, 2020, it seems surreal that 51 years and 82 days have lapsed since we last saw each other. It seems like YESTERDAY ... I can ALMOST feel the heat, smell & feel the 'Nam pungence, as well as the prickly mix of fear & caution from that day. As your CO I am so VERY sorry that I couldn't keep you safe! I've longed for the days we could have talked on the phone or visited each other. Finally visiting your grave recently brought some healing. I was disallowed by the service's rules to contact your family back then. But I would be honored now to share w/ any that wish at: [email protected]. Till Glory, my Fallen Brother! (Slow hand salute!)

Thinking of You

Hello Dan, it has been more than 50 years since God took you from us. I was able to finally get some peace in my life a couple of years ago at your gravesite in South Dakota. You may be gone but never forgotten.
