Dear Captain Michael Kerl, Thank you for your service as a Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander - Helicopter Pilot. Your 73rd birthday was this month, happy birthday.Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Thanksgiving was yesterday, so this is the perfect time to say thanks. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I was one of the platoon medics on the ground when you crashed. I was helped up on the side of the helicopter and climbed into the chopper to help. I could not help you. You died bravely. I salute you. You were a very courageous soldier.
