Owning a Veterans childhood home

We never knew the Barton's or Val... We purchased a very run down home in Redwood Estates, Ca that we knew needed a second life. After 5 years of reconstruction and renovation we are getting close to where we want it. In the garage there has always been a sign with the name "C E Barton". Thanks to the pandemic (if you can thank a pandemic), I finally got around to finding out who made that sign. Turns out, this was in fact Val Barton's childhood home. Wish I had a box of photos of what this place used to look like!! Anyway, we may go pay his gravesite a visit. Thanks to American Heroes like Val, our daughter can enjoy the same yard Val did.
