honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from fellow marine Carl Daigle is moving and reflects his admiration and respect for you. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever….

NEVER FORGOT YOU

We "survived" boot camp together. You went to Nam and I went to DLIWC Monterey for language school. Four months later, on my first day in country, we were reunited. You were the salty veteran having been there for more than 5 months, and I was the "newbie". I remember reaching the top of the hill to join the platoon that first day, sweating like a pig and afraid I would pass out from the heat and effort to get to the top of the hill. I remember the relief that came over me when the first face I saw was yours. I'll never forget that moment, nor our time there. Remember the night you were hit, trying to clear a jammed M60, and helped get you back to the doc in the middle of the perimeter. Last I saw you, but never forgot you. Semper Fi Marine.

Thank You to a friend 51 years later....

I served in Vietnam with Kennedy. We were friends. That is to say, I did not know him well, but depended on him greatly. He was a hell of a card player and one of the bravest men I encountered in Vietnam. He once saved all our lives by standing on a fallen tree and waving off a Marine Huey helicopter with his machine gun, that had mistakenly pinned us down. I know he won an award for his actions, but never learned what he was awarded as he was sadly killed in action a short time later. Rest in Peace Devil Dog.
