TO A FRIEND AND HERO

“We were friends who rode the waves…” you, Rick Parish and me. And at 75 I still remember my best day on the water as Thanksgiving Day 1965. The 3 of us with your Dad You were the best of us: Smooth and Graceful on the water, and a quiet leader funny on shore. I last saw you and your girlfriend at the State Fair on Magic Island. I never thought it would be goodbye.
Rest In Aloha Makule Aikane.

honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You died at 18 years of age. I am 74 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

Always Remembered, Never Forgotten

Remembering Uncle Gene as I visited the Vietnam Wall in D.C. Being raised by his dad (my hanai grandpa), as a kid we would visit on weekends at Punchbowl to see Gene’s site. His dad would share with me stories of them which are dear to me now & I treasure those pieces of their history. I continue to bring flowers at Punchbowl, where they are both now resting. Always remembering the sacrifice of their service and valor.

Forever remembering you both, Uncle Gene & Grandpa Luther (Lou).

Thank You

Dear PFC Gene Keahi, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Veterans’ Day is next week. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
