Mahalo for being there for me

I was there with you & a bunch of Hawaiians in LZ English, Bong Son, Vietnam, 1968 through 1969. When ever I returned back to base camp after a week or so in the boonies, Terry used to give me clean fatigues , a hot shower & hot meals & we get together for a few beers . Then one day in March of 1969, I came back in from the jungles of Vietnam & saw one of our buddies from Hawaii, & I ask for Terry, & he said he MAKI ! (Died). It brought tears to my eyes. I will never forget the times we spent in LZ English with all the local boys from Hawaii & a few beers & we were all from the All Sky Soldiers 173rd Airborne Brigade. I was also wounded & shot right through my chest five days after you past. I will never forget Terry as long as I live & I'll see him in the after life. Im also from Honolulu, Hawaii. Aloha.......

honoring you...

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.
