Your Memory Lives on
On March 19th, 2022 I was providing a military artifact display at a middle school in Chesapeake VA and speaking about the POW/MIA issue for about 500 8th graders. I met your buddy Tom who shared your friendship and story with me. He spoke of your last visit together in Da Nang just like it was yesterday. I could tell of the bond you two still have over fifty years later. You are not forgotten Marine. My youngest son leaves for Parris Island in June. The Marine Corps lives on because of men like you. Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL John Francis Kanaczet Jr, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
