For Danny
I was a neighbor of Danny's in Waterloo. Danny's Grandma and Grandpa owned the corner grocery store and had TONS of penny candy behind the counter. His Grandma would wait patiently while the neighborhood kids would pick out "goodies" that added up to probably a nickel for each of us. My mom drove a 1963 powder blue Ford Fairlane and Mom always picked Danny up when he was hitch hiking. In January of 1969 my family moved from Waterloo. 2 summers ago, I found Danny's name on the traveling wall when it traveled near where I live. I stopped in Waterloo last summer and went to the public library to look up his high school yearbook picture, and read his obituary in the Waterloo Courier. It made me cry, Danny was so nice to me when I was "just a kid" (I'm a few years younger). Danny, you would have been a great dad. I will always remember you.
