Fifty-Six Years

It has been fifty-six years since the date our paths crossed in a place called Vandegrift Combat Base, also known as Ca Lu Airfield, in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. I was wounded in the same rocket attack that took you life. The remembrances of you posted on this site attest to your empathy and love for others. I remember you daily and wish you had survived to live and love these last fifty-six years and more.
P.S. My new neighbors include a young woman who is the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants. She and her husband have two beautiful young daughters and share a good life. I think your service helped make that possible.

YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN!

Dear Sergeant Joy ~ You Are Not Forgotten!
This is the 4th year, on the anniversary of your passing, that I ran a mile with you in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in Peace, Dear Brother.

Each year since September 2015, at the annual 5th Division Army reunion, members of the Society of the Fifth Division, U.S Army remember the 514 soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 5th Division, who were Killed in Action in Vietnam. You are among the soldiers remembered. You Are Not Forgotten!
