Our Paths
Your path and mine came together on June 20, 1969. The NVA rocket attack on Vandegrift Combat Base that day which took your life, in addition to the lives of at least two others, resulted in me being wounded and medevacked. You were an US Army Infantryman and I was a US Marine Artilleryman. Our paths were not likely to cross and I did not know you then. I have come to know a little something about you from the internet. You were a Sergeant who had been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor. That speaks well of your dedication to duty and of your courage. Your military service as evidenced in the records is inspiring. The description of you as a husband by your wife Anna in her prior post is an even greater inspiration for all of us who survived, returned home, and married.
Thank you both.
Thank you both.

Thank You
Dear Sgt Richard Joy, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Halloween is soon. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
