A Hero

Al was a good man.We were together day and night from mid Sept 67 until Nov 27th 1967 as he was my ammo bearer. There were 7 brave men of 2nd Plt D Co 2/14th Inf. who lost their lives that day.Al gave his life trying to save the others. It was a sad time for us there and for the many families at home.
This affected so many lives and for years to come.

Soar Like An Eagle

"Butch" was a scout in my Boy Scout Troop in 1958. After I left the troop, "Butch" went on the become
an Eagle Scout and the troop scoutmaster before going to Vietnam. He was one of the best scouts and
one of the best human beings I knew. To his son, I say: "Follow in your father's footsteps. He blazed
a trail for you to follow."
