Robin was a poet, an artist and a musician; if he had lived he would have been a grandfather. He volunteered for a second tour of duty in Vietnam because he loved the Vietnamese people and wanted to see them free.
In the summer of 1968, Robin came home to Richland Hills on leave before shipping out to "Nam. I flew up from Corpus Christi to see him. Robin and my brother Roy (who had safely returned from Vietnam (Seabees)) drove to Dallas Love Field and picked me up. When I close my eyes, I can feel their shoulders on both sides of me as we drove back to Richland Hills. We were talking so much that we took the wrong turn and went via Denton!
Robin is still much loved and remembered. If you ever end up in Richland Hills, Texas, visit the Richland Hills United Methodist Church: his late parents dedicated a beautiful stained glass window in his memory.
