Thank You Joe

Dear Joe, I remember you when I was a small child of 6 and you were a teenager living in Sanford. A church separated our houses. I remember the day you left for the service and came to say goodbye. You were so helpful to my Mother who was disabled she died a couple months before you. I remember your Mother telling my family you called home and said my Mother came to in a dream several times and told you to follow her. Your Mother said she told you not to go with my Mother. However knowing my Mother only had one leg and her crutches were left on earth, you followed my Mother to help as you often did. Thank you not only for your service to the Country but thank you for being so kind to my Mother and Family. I decided to see if there was an internet version of the wall on line today to pay homage to you. Joe you will forever be in my thoughts, prayers and heart

Thank You

Dear PFC Joseph Jones, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Yesterday, we are celebrated Columbus Day. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Happy Birthday Joe,....

..... Your middle name is my first name. While I have never met you, and if not for visiting this memorial website, I would have never known who you were or that as a Marine you served your countries call to serve in Viet Nam during 1968. It was a very tragic year for our U.S. military serving in that small country thousands of miles away from us, as well as for those in our home front experiencing many tragic events that deeply divided our country.
Yet, you followed the orders given to you. Those orders placed you in serious harms way. By following your orders, and without regards to yourself, you gave the ultimate sacrifice, serving alongside your fellow Marines. You served as a Rifleman in a Province near the DMZ . Quang Tri was one of the most dangerous places for a soldier's tour of duty throughout the Viet Nam War. Nevertheless, you carried out your orders to do the job you were trained to do. You did it well. Thank you for your service. Rest easy Joe, you will not be forgotten.
