Johnny Jones in high school
What a nice guy!! I remember in our 12th grade social studies class (1965-67) that no one could tell our social studies teacher where Vietnam was. Mr. Weidmeyer, got visually upset and told us that many of us could be in Vietnam after graduation and we needed to start watching the news and learning about WHAT was going on! When I heard of Johnny's death, my thoughts carried me back into the classroom on the second floor at Newfield High. I think Johnny was the only friend I knew who was lost in Vietnam. What a terrible waste of a very nice, gentle giant.
