Thank You

Dear Ssgt Jerry Jones, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman/Instructor. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today we are celebrating Columbus Day Weekend. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Final Mission of SSG Jerry R. Jones

On May 15, 1965, an Allied ammunition resupply convoy was traveling 50 miles northeast of Saigon in Bien Hoa Province, RVN, when it was ambushed by the Viet Cong. Two U.S. Army advisors and 25 Vietnamese were killed in the attack. The lost Americans were CPT Donald E. Close and SSG Jerry R. Jones from Advisory Team 87, Headquarters, MACV Advisors, MACV. Both soldiers died after being hit multiple times by small arms fire. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

People who served with Jerry R Jones

My name is Karen Jones, my father was SSGT Jerry Robert Jones. My family was told that my dad died because he put his self on an explosive device to save troops. I would love to know the story of my dad to pass down to my grandchildren.
