Dear Cpl David Jones, Thank you for your service as a Mortarman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Tomorrow is actually Columbus Day. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I did not know Jones that well, I woke up that morning thinking I got 22 days left in nam. We could here the firefight to the north. Lt. Norris ordered Bravo co. to saddle up and move out.we moved up to the banks of the Beau Deau River, some of the finest Marines who ever lived died crossing that river. The battle is described in the book , Magnificent Bastards. Never let us forget these Heros
