Forward Observer - Attached to 1st Btl. 4th Marines Bravo Co.
Stanley (Bud) was on a FO (Forward Observer) team with L/Cpl LaRose & myself. We were attached to B Co. 1/4 a 1/2 click No. of Giolien an artillery Plato for G Bat. 3/12. Marine(105's MM) and a bat. of Army 175 MM guns. We called fire missions all along the DMZ. We were hit with a 175MM rocket, He was killed instantly I spent 2.5 yr. in Balboa. NH LaRose was also wounded & survived. Sgt. Kempf USMC Ret.

PFC Stanley Foster Barrett served with Battery G, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Amphibious Force. He died from multiple fragmentation wounds when an unknown device exploded while he was on a patrol (Coffelt Database).

Miss You Buddy
Buddy and I became friends in the third grade in Saginaw. I moved to Detroit area the next year but we continued our friendship until just after graduating H.S. in 1965. When I was in Saginaw we played countless hours of basketball in his driveway. Buddy went into the Marines, never to return and I on to college and business success. I'm now 71, retired, and always wonder what kind of man he would have become.
