honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your childhood friend Jerry Buchanan is touching and harkens back to the carefree days of our youth. Sadly, those days ended much too soon for you. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever….

Honoring Samuel at the 40th Reading of the Names
It is with great respect and gratitude that I am honored to be reading Samuel Johnson Jr.'s name on November 9, 2022, at the 40th Anniversary of The Reading of The Names at The Wall in DC. My brother Richard Sablotny was also KIA 10/27/1968 and was from Bedford Ohio. He served the Army 3/60th 9th Infantry. Honoring our men/women who served unselfishly and gave the ultimate sacrifice is the least we can do. I strive to ALWAYS REMEMBER, ALWAYS LOVE and NEVER FORGET those we lost so young. My prayers and love are with your family!

Samuel J. Johnson Jr.
If this is indeed Samuel Jerry Johnson Jr from Akron Ohio I met him in Junction City Kansas when I was a little girl. He was a very kind person to our family and I have searched for him for years only to find this and it saddens me 50 years later I'm heartbroken thank you for your service and I know what you did and I know you went there with a broken heart and I'm sorry.

Thank You
Dear PFC Samuel Johnson, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Yesterday was the 51st anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. The time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Thinking of my childhood friend.
My fondest memory of Sam is us riding bicycles around the school parking lot in St. Charles as young boys maybe 11 or 12. Sam liked to tell corny clean jokes. The last time I saw him was in Pennington Gap having a beer at the now called Rooster's Pub. He was in his uniform and he told me he was on his way to Vietnam. Little did I know that he would not return as he was killed in action jut a few weeks after he arrived there. You will never be forgotten Sam and get those jokes ready when we meet again.
