I never knew you, but my father, Paul Decker, was your buddy. I know Dad loved you very much and dealt with unspoken grief his whole life due to your death. Your recruiter connected my mother with Carl Finley, who was my dad's recruiter. My dad loved Carl, and Mom and Carl married five years after my father's death in 2008. I put flowers on your grave with my mom. You have been a household name for as long as I can remember. Now, you and Dad are enjoying the gifts of heaven. Thank you for your service, brave warrior.

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your brother James is especially touching and reflects the grief experienced by so many families. May you rest in eternal peace.

You were like a son the Mom and Dad and a big brother to us 3 kids. We think of you often and miss you. I remember you sticking a pizza crust on the kitchen ceiling one evening at our home when you threw it up in the air like a real pizzaman. We still laugh about that!
